In the second half of the twentieth century, the perseverance of a local scholar, Claude Martin, revealed a wealth of information on the history of Clairac and its inhabitants, in particular in the 16^th and 17^th century. It is a great pity that Mr Martin died on February 7^th 2018, at the age of 90 years. Fortunately his work has been taken over by Clair Morizet, with whom Mr Martin has been sharing his findings for many years.

In order to widen the interest in the history of Clairac, Clair Morizet and others, have organized a successful symposium on the history of Clairac and its abbey in 2016. A second symposium will follow on June 2^nd 2018, which will be devoted to the Reform in Clairac.

That symposium will be organized by the Société des amis de Clairac. That association has been established in February 2018 by Clair Morizet, who will act as its chairman. More information on that Association can be found on its website.

On November 12, 2017, the European Research Council (ERC) has awarded a Consolidator Grant to Catarina Dutilh Novaes. The ERC awards these €2 million research grants to excellent scientists to encourage the highest quality research in Europe.

Catarina Dutilh Novaes is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy in Groningenand an external member of the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy (LMU). She teaches a broad ranges of courses at the faculty. Her main fields of research are history and philosophy of logic and mathematics. From 2011 to 2016 she led the NWO-VIDI research project ‘The Roots of Deduction’, investigating the origins and practice of deductive reasoning, particularly in mathematics. She also has a general interest in issues pertaining to gender and race. Her research is characterised by collaboration with cognitive scientists and psychologists, and this is what she will do in her ERC project ‘The Social Epistemology of Argumentation’. On September 8, 2017 Catarina Dutilh Novaes (philosopher and feminist, with occasional drops of (mostly Brazilian) music) has 1,291 followers, which brings her to position 91 on the TrueSciPhi (science and philosophy communities on Twitter and YouTube) ranking of women philosophers on Twitter.

Catarina Dutilh Novaes, hoogleraar wijsbegeerte aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, verdedigt in haar artikel getiteld “Porno is niet per se onderdrukkend” de stelling dat filosofisch gezien de feministische porno op z’n minst de belofte in zich draagt van gelijkheid en verheffing.

Pornografie is van alle tijden. Bijna zo lang als er afbeeldingen van mensen zijn, bestaan er afbeeldingen van mannen en vrouwen die seksuele handelingen verrichten. De muren van het bordeel in Pompeii zijn bedekt met beroemde erotische schilderingen en erotische literatuur heeft een lange en indrukwekkende geschiedenis. Met de komst van het internet en andere technologische vernieuwingen is pornografie niet eerder zo alomtegenwoordig geweest als nu. Gezien deze wijdverbreidheid is het onderwerp van studie geworden van psychologen, sociologen, mediawetenschappers, rechtsgeleerden en filosofen.

CUT_ bracht gisteren nieuwe single, ‘Tactics’ uit van de EP ‘Chapter I’. De single is vanaf vandaag exclusief te beluisteren op Noisey. Deze EP is het eerste hoofdstuk van het aankomende full length album wat in het voorjaar van 2016 uit komt. ‘ Chapter I’ bestaat uit drie singles, die allen begeleid worden door een video. De drie video’s vormen samen een korte film. Op 30 april geeft CUT_ een exclusieve showcase in het Volkshotel te Amsterdam waar zij de nieuwe nummers voor het eerst live spelen. Tevens zal de korte film ‘Chapter I’ in zijn geheel worden getoond.

Het uit Amsterdam afkomstige CUT_ bestaat uit producer Sebastiaan Dutilh, zangeres Belle Doron en visual artist Hidde de Jong. Meer informatie
